Issue
Want to extend the flight time so that Smart Construction Drone (Explorer1) flight over a wide area.
Answer
Please refer to the following instructions.
Explanation
1) Replace the battery with a high-capacity type.
DJI's TB47 battery is standard, but the TB48 high-capacity type is also available.
Please purchase from DJI distributors.
2) Perform a refresh charge/discharge
Charging and discharging is recommended when every 3 months or 50 flights or more.
Charge and discharge the battery according to the following procedure.
- After charging the battery to 100%, allow the battery to stand for at least 24 hours.
- Attach the battery to the drone. Fly the drone and when the remaining power level is less than 20%, land the drone and remove the battery.
- Let the battery sit for at least 6 hours.
- Check the cell voltage.
- Charge the battery to 100% power level.
Repeat the above steps.
Other battery management
- Periodically check that the battery is not swollen, leaking electrolyte, or damaged.
- Store batteries away from high temperatures, high humidity, and extremely low temperatures (indoor storage is preferable).
- When the outside temperature is low, warm up the battery before use (internal battery temperature of 16°C or higher).
- Avoid storing fully charged batteries, especially in summer.
- Avoid storing over-discharged batteries (storage at around 50 percent is desirable).
*Avoid using batteries with extremely short flight time (10 minutes or less), as they may cause a crash due to a sudden drop in voltage depending on the flight conditions.
